Halo 1 PC?....?

My friend got in to this game, and we've been playing on it for a while but...the one thing we want to do is host, so i want to ask if anyone knows how to do that, i have dsl internet so i don't get wats goin on, when my friend tries to join it says "unable".
I know lots of people have answered this type of question before but, none of them help, so if anyone can actually answer this question, PLZZ DO.

You want to "host" a match..its been awhile since I've touched Halo PC, but from what I remember:

1) Go to "Multiplayer"
2) Go under "LAN" options
3) "host"

If I had screenshots of the UI I would be more help..

I host all the time it might be a server problem or maybe you just not clicking the right button, idk i will check this out and see what i come up with.
