Halo 3? Aren't hunters on our side with the elites?

Since the elites, at the end of the game sided with us..I thought that hunters were with us too!? But in gameplay videos on youtube, I see hunters shooting there gas tanks at us still. Why is this? And half the grunts are with us too right?

Only the elites were banished from the convenant.

no, like the grunts, some parted with the covenant, and some with the humans.
