On halo 3 multiplayer can you play with people at your house or do you have to use xbox live.

both. when playing with friends (well which i hate to do) you play with split screen(s) [depending on how many friends you will play with] make sure you got plently of controls
xbox live is awesome. i prefer that (well thats just me)
so yeah, basically you can play either.

If you mean just like in halo 2 were you invite 3 friends over just to play against each other only and you have 4 controllers of course you can. And if you have xbox live your 3 friends can be your guests online so you all can play against others across the world.

You can play with people at your house. But you can go on Xbox llive. But you have to pay the subscription. If you want you can still play on xbox live though. If you mean on you tv and your Xbox 360. Yeah you can on multiplayer without going on xbox live.
