How do i finish the second quest (covenant bomb) in HALO 2 on xbox @ LEVEL 1?

i just started playing halo 2 & i started level 1. i completed the first thing i had to do in that level but the second one... something to do with the bomb.. i cant seem to find it. i got to an area where theres this big metal (?) peice that keeps going back & forth...
