How do you change uniform in Halo 3?

Ok not a wiz... what is the point in getting the skulls in halo 3 live? and one more question, how is it that other players have different uniforms? i am still stuck in the regular green uniform while others have armor and what not, please get back to me soon..

Skulls give you cooler armour to wear.
But to change your appearance press the back button on your xbox 360 controller which goes to settings then click on appearance and change the armour and symbols.

you stop playing halo 3 and play a real game such as metal gear solid.

skulls get your gamer score up and some more armor.

change armor by pressing start, right, go to appearance, you can become covenant, change colors, symbols, get skulls, achievements, and beat legendary mode for more options
