I did not get the demon achievement but got over 15,000 points in halo 3?

I was working with a friend of mine and we were playing Crow's Nest on Legendary and campaign scoring was on and in total we got over 15,000 points but only he got the achievement, I did not. I had more points than him, I had around 10,000 and he had around 9,000.
