I need help with downloading custom maps on halo 3!?

i go to bungie.net and find a map i want, i click download to halo 3. on my xbox i go to file share and click on number on slot 1 and click "Map Variant" it says "upload complete" but when i go into custom games it doesnt show up! what do i do?!

do you have the new map packs. Because if you don't and it is on a new map I don't think you can play it. Even if it is custom. If you do then you stumped me.
