is making videos with a capture card on halo 3 and then posting them on youtube

illegal? I planned on making some forge tutorials and putting them on youtube but one of my family members says it's illegal cause if i play halo 3 any videos that are recorded while i play are considered the copyright of bungie,however i see videos like the ones i want to do all the time so thats why im so confused

I've posted videos of Super Smash Bros., Metal Gear Solid, and Star Wars that have yet to be taken down.
Who's going to care about some videos.
If that's the case then everything on Youtube is copyrighted.
