yes,you can prevent it from red blinks.the main reasons for that red blink is that if u play xbox 360 more than 3 to 4 hours continuously, the power supply would get heat and it cannot bare more heat.so it produces the red blink .so my advice is to not to play continuously.leave some gap and play.this is even good for health also

The 360 is notorious for overheating, but I also got the red ring of death when I didn't have my power cord plugged in properly. Something to check, anyway.

this may help KEEP THE BOX HORIZONTALLY:cd's are not scratched KEEP IT IN AN OPEN SPACE:gets enough ventilationDON'T PLAY CONTINUOUSLY LIKE FOR ABOUT 10 HOURS:it gets overheated and u have to buy a new one

Keep the unit in a horizontal position, and provide plenty of ventilation. Maintaining proper air circulation around the unit is critical in preventing the unit from over-heating.I was unfortunate enough to get a faulty launch model, and when my XBOX 360 displayed the "red lights of death," as my sons call them, I received a new unit from XBOX. Over-heating is a major problem, and Microsoft has now warranted all 360's for 3 years, so if your unit does over-heat they will replace it free of charge.

1. Always take the game out of the system when not playing.2. Never change the position of the console with a game in it3. For maximum air flow, allow plenty of airflow on all 4 sides and store in horizontal poisition to maximize this airflow, however if you are clumsy and think you may know it over, stor it vertically. 4. Always have it turned off when not playing.5. I dont reccomend playing the console more than 4-5 hours a day.

In my experience, nothing can save you from the RRoD. I have had two consoles suffer from this. They were both well ventilated and cared for, and rarely played for more than an hour at a time.
