Please help with video game Halo 3.?

I played halo this afternoon, and afterwards, (it's night right now) i decided to get on it again, but then when i clicked matchmaking it took me to the usual page but instead of saying start matchmaking it says Information could not be retrieved from the Halo 3, and the Start Matchmaking button is gray and it won't let me do it. Please help.

Halo 3 online is currently down. It should be up soon though.

i have been playing halo 3 for about 2 years and this has not happened to me. I think it could be something to do with your halo disk being scratched.
does your xbox struggle to read any other games?
