Recon armor when Halo 3 ODST comes out?

I won Recon armor at Bungie Day by beating Bungie. But my friend knows a Bungie employee in real life. And he says that if you do the rest of the vidmasters when odst comes out, you will get a flame head. But then some one else told me that the only way to activate the flame head is by having a linked gametag to bungie.net. But I cannot link my gamertag (Its a long story) How will I be able to get my flame head then?
