To my knowledge the normal edition pre-ordered comes with a Halo: Reach beta invitation. I'm not sure if playing as Sargent Johnson is included with it or not.

Halo 3: ODST comes with invitation to Beta of Halo: Reach, whether you pre-order it or not. The only bonus you get for pre-ordering ODST is the ability to unlock Sergeant Johnson as a playable character in the new Firefight mode. Pre-order normally costs 5 bucks, which goes toward the game.

You should definatley pre order it im not sure exacly what the bonuses you will get with game play but it cost 5 bucks and that goes towards the total cost anyways also most stores wont have any in stock for a while unless you get it right when it comes out
