Like Cod4 and World at War have the multiplayer goal of being a higher level than everyone or a better kill/death ratio, what's the goal of Halo 3's mulitplayer?

Gee, I guess I was confused. You see, I thought the point of playing online games was to HAVE FUN, and not worry about constantly having to be superior to every other player.

What has happened to games nowadays?
