Transfer xbox live from origional xbox and play halo 3?

I have an origional xbox with xbox live. I know that I can transfer xbox live to the 360. I also know that halo 3 requires xbox live gold membership. Does this mean that I won't be able to play halo 3 online because I have the origional xbox live?

Do you have a windows .net id? Set it up to where your .net id is linked to your gamertag and then all you have to do is migrate your account & you'll be able to play on both xboxes
