What are your best ways to get your skill up in Halo 3?

What are the easiest ways to get your skill up. Also what do you do to get a higher kill death ratio. I'm not exactly a newcomer to halo 3... my highest skill is 43. what do you recommend? I really want to beat all my friends with my rank.
