What does being host mean in Halo 3?

Might sound a pretty dumb question but whats all this about host??
Is it something to do with lag

OMG, The real answer is that if you get HOST in Matchmaking or Custom game you get a advantage to win a game or at least get an Positive score. For example if you get host your Battle Riffle aka BR should shot smoothly and never miss a accurate shot. If somone hasn't got host there BR would spread bullets. Also you can jump about 2inches higher than people if your host!. So yeah HOST is incrediable advantage to win a game. People say people that gets the best connection in the game always gets host? Well if your a host in matchmaking.. it just means every1 can connect to u the best... so to say... in custom it just means your the leader.
