what is heroic DLC (halo 3)?

DLC stands for Down Loadable Content

Their now free so everyone gets it

I could be wrong but I think that could mean you have to beat the game on heroic? If you already have then sorry, I can't really help.

heroic DLC
is the heroic map map DLC (downloadable content)
it includes three maps
1. rats nets
2.foundry
3. standoff
it was launched at a 800 MS points price but is now free

there is also a legendary DLC
which has 3 more maps and is newer and cost 800 MS points
maps are
1. remake of lockout from halo 2
2. remake of avalache from halo 1
3. and ghosttown (new map)
