What's a similar video game to Left 4 Dead or Halo 3?

I need some gift ideas for a guy who loves video games... He can't get off Left 4 Dead and COD. He wants Resident Evil 5, but I want to get him another game on top of that.

RE5 is good,

dont get him dead rising, it sucks(i think)
Try gears of war 2 is pretty fun
thats all i can think off
fallout 3 isnt like those games but its fun
