Yes, if it does not work you can download them again with the corresponding Gamertag you bought them with without having to pay again.

Yes you do. Even if buy some weird chance that you don't then You could always recover your gamertag. All your maps will still transfer over.

I've done this and it transfers everything but saved games. Sorry, but it doesn't because I had a 20GB Hard Drive, I go RRoD and I still had a 2 year warranty on my Xbox 360 so they gave me a brand new Xbox 360 with a 60GB Hard Drive, so they used the hard drive transfer kit, so I then booted up Star Wars The Force Unleashed to find that my saved game(s) and all my other saved games for other games were gone too.
