Why in Halo 3 am i always master chief? not that i dont like him, i just like

covenant weps... can i change?
dont get me wrong, i like master chief, but he doesnt get plasmas.... and when i do 4 man co-op i'm ALWAYS master chief, even tho my friends want to be him..... when i host it, when they host it, master chief around the clock...
