Will Halo 3: ODST be able to play with players on Halo 3?

Ive seen a couple of questions kinda suggesting this, but im not entirely sure.

ODST will come with two disks, one for ODST and its multiplayer and campaign and then another disk just for Halo 3's multiplayer.
The second disk will also come with three brand new maps.

Unfortunately, no. Halo 3: ODST features some new UNSC weapons not in halo 3. Plus, it has a hoard mode, wich is infinite rounds of Covenent troops.

No. Bungie has said that ODST will have an matchmaking type call "Firefight", and even though it has Halo 3 in the name, it's a different game, on a different disc so I think it's HIGHLY unlikely that there going to be a cross game fighting such as Halo 3 players playing with Halo 3:ODST players.
