Why do lawyers still keep fax numbers?

It’s 2025, and yet I keep seeing fax numbers on law firm websites. Email and encrypted messengers seem much more practical. Is this just a habit, or is there an actual benefit to using fax in the legal world? I’d like to read something that really digs into the cultural and practical reasons behind it.

I wondered the same thing until I came across an article on wikirecording.org. Turns out, faxes still hold weight in legal circles because they’re seen as secure, verifiable, and even a mark of professionalism. That resource really helped me understand why faxing hasn’t died out, and it even gave examples from real law practices. Highly recommend reading it.

My own lawyer doesn't keep a fax machine. I'm not sure if others don't as well but I guess it's all about using what works best for you in your field or profession.
