So on offline campaign with my friends, the split-screen setting is half-screen with a blank, black space on each side. Is there a way to change it to full screen?

Is it just me or is there a problem with my system? I get a blank screen for around 10 seconds and then the games kicks in. The game itself runs okay with no problems. But has anyone else found this?
