Does The Citadel Map on Halo 3 have anything to do with the Citadel on Half Life 2?

I was at my m8s house and we was playing halo 3 and he said to me
"Lets play the Citadel Map, so i was wondering, any relation?

Nope, no relation at all. They are after all made by different companies.

Unlikely, the citadel was clearly destroyed in Half Life 2 Episode 1 and the portal energy would cause a spartan to be incinerated when they traverse through the portal relay. Sarcasm aside nope no affiliation.

I don't see why there would be a connection, since Halo and Half-Life are made by different companies. The Citadel map in Halo 3 is based on a section in the campaign.
