Halo 3 skulls?

How do you get the skulls on halo 3 ? and what are they used for?

as far as i know there are 2 skulls (gold and silver) per level on campaign. they are used for changing the game, most make the game harder like enemies have more health or are better shots. they are well hidden in places you wouldn't think of looking (for example, crows nest, there is one on a pipe near the ceiling at the beginning)

There are 2 types of skulls, Gold and Silver. There are 9 gold skulls and 4 silver skulls. Each gold skull you find gives you one achievement. Finding silver skulls just makes things fun. You don't get achievements for them. The below link tells you what each gold skull does when you activate them and play campaign. Them change how the game plays. Each one makes the game harder in it's own way.

To find skulls you HAVE to start at the beginning of each level, you can't use rally points. Also, the difficulty has to be at least normal. Easy won't work.

You get them through campaign they are hidden through out the level. You get achievement points and special armor.
