how do you get on top of the ship in sandtrap on halo 3?

i can overload the map and get past the first barrier but then i die on the death barrier before i get to the metal ring just outside the barrier. did i do smething wrong?please help!

did u try pressing da "A" button it comes in handy when u want to get on something
