in the begging the covenant were fighting the humans and then the flood came came and started fighting everyone so then in the end of halo 2 the covenant and the humans started wroking together to kill the brutes and the flood.makes the story moer epic

Yea, but only the Elites joined forces with the humans. You still have to fight the rest of the Covenant and the Flood. The Covenant travels to Earth, to uncover the Portal to the Arc, so they can activate all 6 halo rings simultaneously, and go on their Great Journey. The Flood managed to get onto High Charity at the end of Halo 2. Now they travel to Earth, so they too can go to the Arc. The Arc is out of range from halo, so the Flood figure the'll be safe there.

The covenant are dedicated to activating the ancient rings in a religious ritual to purge the flood. they dont realise that the rings destroy the flood by destroying its food source. and the food source is anything the flood can get its greasy lil mits on. the humans fight the covenant to prevent the universe being destroyed. the elites find out the truth about the rings and join the humans to stop the prophets from activating the rings
