what is better: halo 3 or halo wars?

well im going to get one or the other and i just wanted to know what one is better. im not much of a halo fan so thats why im kinda clueless. all of my friends want me to get halo 3 and i wanna play with them so im kinda leaning towards halo 3.

Halo 3 was an amazing game. A very good FPS shooter and a good storyline with a good ending. Halo Wars is an RTS (real time strategy game) so you get to build your own bases make your own troops, weapons, and vehicles. Overall it depends on you and what you want to do but if you've never played an RTS game before i would try Halo 3 first since its an FPS and you'll get used to the game faster.
