Maybe they just wanted something different. It hard to stay alive in rockets so there is some skill.

Lol, rockets do take SOME skill, but I understand where you are coming from. I think the main thing is to influence the traffic of certain areas. In most MLG maps, the rockets are on the lower levels, giving players a reason to go down there. The high ground is obviously going to have the advantage, so rockets are placed to make players utilize the rest of the map, therefore making it play better. Plus the Rocket Launcher has very low ammo so it does not dramatically affect the outcome of the game.
