How can I help my isolated elderly uncle socialise safely online?

My uncle lives alone in a quiet town and has been feeling really cut off from the world lately. He’s in his late 60s and mentioned he’d love to find people his age to talk to about books and history, but he’s incredibly tech-phobic. I want to help him find a community, but I’m worried sick about online fraud and weirdos targeting older folk. Is there a simple, secure space where mature people can just text and connect without pressure?
