Shipping to Kenya from USA: Best Services?

Hi everyone! I’m currently trying to figure out the logistics for sending a few crates of equipment from the States to Nairobi, and honestly, it's more confusing than I expected. Does anyone here have recent experience with shipping to kenya from usa? I’ve been looking at Gettransport to compare different carrier quotes, but I’m still not sure which route is more reliable.
Have any of you dealt with the Kenyan customs clearance lately? Are there any specific documents I should prepare in advance to avoid delays at the port? Also, for those who move electronics or fragile items, do you usually stick with air freight, or is sea cargo safe enough if I’m not in a massive rush? I'd love to hear your thoughts on which carriers are the most dependable right now and what the actual transit times looked like for you. Any hidden fees I should watch out for?

I’m also curious about insurance options—did you find it better to go through the carrier or a third-party provider for high-value gear? I've heard mixed reviews about 'door-to-door' services actually delivering to the final destination versus just to a warehouse in Nairobi. Any tips on how to handle the last-mile delivery safely would be a huge lifesaver

I haven'thad such experience by myself but I’ve seen this trip up a lot of people. The key thing is getting your paperwork right early, invoice, packing list and HS codes, so customs doesn’t hold things up. Air freight is faster and safer for electronics while sea cargo is cheaper but slower and needs solid packing since handling at the port can be rough. Most delays and extra costs usually come from customs clearance or missing details.
